The Massachusetts AFL-CIO has just announced that applications for the 61st annual scholarship awards program will be accepted online from November 5 to December 14, 2018.
Massachusetts high school seniors interested in applying can find out more and register at www.massaflcio.org/scholarships. This program is open to all Massachusetts high school seniors; awards are based on scores from the labor exam given in Massachusetts high schools on February 6, 2019. Additionally, students who are members of Local 1445, or who have parents or grandparents who are members, may be eligible for the two UFCW Local 1445 scholarships awarded based on their test scores. (Please note: These scholarships are in addition to the UFCW Local 1445 scholarships awarded at the quarterly membership meeting in July 2019. For more information on these additional scholarships, click here.)
High school seniors who do not live in Massachusetts but who are members of Local 1445, or who have parents or grandparents who are members of Local 1445, may still be eligible for the Local 1445 scholarships administered by the Massachusetts AFL-CIO. Be sure to register online at www.massaflcio.org/scholarships.
And ALL STUDENTS who apply for the scholarships MUST notify their guidance offices of their desire to take the test on February 6, 2019! Failure to do so means that your school will not receive sufficient copies of the test and you will not be allowed to participate. Out-of-state students: Make sure your school contacts the Massachusetts AFL-CIO to ensure that the school has made arrangements for you to take the test on February 6!
