Hannaford workers are on strike for a fair contract with decent benefits!
Updated On: Mar 01, 2018
Hannaford workers at the distribution center in South Portland, Maine, overwhelmingly authorized a strike to demonstrate their outrage at the company's response to their contract requests. Local 1445 members are only asking for fair wages and decent benefits, but have been treated with disrespect and scorn by the company.
"We don’t want to have to strike, but if we can’t make the progress we need to to ensure myself and my fellow co-workers can continue to make a decent living in our communities then we may have to," said Local 1445 member Bob LaBrecque. "...unfortunately Hannaford would rather suck money out of the community and ship it overseas instead of investing in the loyal, hardworking people of Maine."
Good union jobs are important to the welfare of workers and their families in every community throughout the country. Hannaford workers are fighting for their livelihoods and a better future for themselves and their children.
